The first steel guitar in 2005.

STEELYJAM was born from the desire to create a guitar that is both high-performance, technologically advanced, and perfectly sound balanced. This project was driven by Arthur Devreux (co-creator, designer, and luthier) and Jean-Baptiste Demarcin (co-creator and commercial director), both of whom are passionate about music and teamed up to bring the brand to life.

It all began in 2005 when Arthur Devreux, as a self-taught luthier and guitarist, built his first electric guitar with a steel body. The unique sound of this guitar stayed with him, and it was this core memory that led him, in October 2022, to design what would become the first STEELYJAM model. The brand name is actually derived from this initial prototype made from steel sheets.

Through ongoing research and development, aluminium emerged as the ideal material, gradually replacing steel due to its numerous advantages (see the “Why Aluminium” section).

On March 31, 2023, after a long period of collaboration, reflection, and experimentation, Arthur and Jean-Baptiste released the first G01 aluminium model. This was a key milestone that officially launched the brand into communication and instrument creation efforts. Since then, the manufacturing method has evolved, incorporating cutting-edge machining technologes to produce high-end instruments in series.

During this intense first year of development, the G02 model, the B01 bass, and STEELYJAM pickups were also created, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation.

Today, after participating in events such as the Montreux International Guitar Show 2024 and the Guitar Summit 2024, and receiving highly encouraging feedback from musicians and industry professionals, STEELYJAM is more motivated than ever to establish itself in the market. Its most ambitious goal: to make aluminium as popular as wood in the guitar industry.
